Adam Lambert’s first notes were sung, er, wailed, right here in Indianapolis? Indeed, it is so. The American Idol tour rolled through Indianapolis with the expected high octane performances from last year’s top finalists. Kris, Danny, and the rest of the crew rocked strong performances that had the audience enthralled.
Of course all those, while fine on their own, were also just prelude…until the main attraction, Adam Lambert took the stage. Lambert used his powerful vocal range to scorch through everything from Led Zeppelin classics to Tears for Fears (the “Mad World” version he wowed during the TV show season) and modern pop numbers.
As a fascinating, often overlooked aside, he reminded the crowd that he was born here in Indianapolis, and then moved to California as a toddler. While it might be a stretch to call him a native son, it’s nice to know there’s just a little bit of Indiana in one of the finest singers to emerge this year.
