Adam Lambert will be returning to American Idol this week, as a mentor to the Season 9 contestants doing the Elvis themed night. To some who wonders why Adam is the one being chosen, well, this isn’t really a hard question. For starters, Adam Lambert already got this professionalism inside him before he auditioned for American Idol. Second, if anyone can still remember Adam’s weekly performance – observe the lighting and stage set ups. Adam did supervised all of that for his own performance. This guy knows what he is doing.
Other benefits of geting Adam Lambert as a mentor is that, he IS an American Idol contestant himself and that’s just last year. Not so much distance of what is going on inside the American Idol camp. He can relate with the contestants and give them an effective advice and a big source of inspiration to focus on their performance.
To me, the one taking most of Adam Lambert’s guest mentoring is Siobhan Magnus. Remember Kara DioGuardi said that she reminds her of Adam Lambert. Other than that, Siobhan’s antics and stage lighting is also a bit similar to Adam’s, so this is indeed a plus factor for Siobhan. We hope to see her dominate the Elvis night with Adam as her mentor.
What about Adam Lambert duet with Siobhan Magnus instead?

Although I like Siobhan, it’s way premature, IMHO, to even entertain the thought of Adam EVER doing a duet with her, based on how she is right now. They’re in different leagues for sure. Although she can hit some high notes, they are on the thin side, and can be too shrill at times. At this time last year (& from the very beginning), Adam was totally WOWING us every single week and killing it every. single. time. Siobhan simply does not do that. Although it is interesting to see what Siobhan is going to do/sing/wear each week, it is certainly no where NEAR the level of the anticipation we (I) had for Adam every week. She’s more on a high school level to me, or maybe freshman in college, and he is the long-time Ph.D. giving the master class. I saw him on the Idol tour, too, and when he took the stage it was like, OK, the boss is here now. Now the party is started. The only way I could maybe see him dueting w/Siobhan would be in a situation like finale night, where they pair the Idols w/established artists, even tho he is new on the music recording scene. Personally, I’m hoping for Adam to sing sometime w/Christina Aguilera and would love to see him sing at least once w/Andrea Bocelli. How beautiful would that be.
