The affable singer says he is more than happy to take the silver this year, and that he has absolutely “no regrets.” Adam Lambert said he enjoyed the entire experience and wouldn’t change a thing. He shared: “I know it sounds cliché, but I really feel like I won by getting to the finals. To me, its not about the title of ‘American Idol,’ it was the experience. I made music, and I got to do a different performance every week, and I was able to use [the show] as a platform to get myself out there, and now I have a career.” Adam Lambert continues,

“There’s no need to dwell on the negative. We should look forward, and be excited about an album and the rest of my career. I couldn’t be happier for Kris [Allen]. I think he’s immensely talented. I don’t think the title of first or second place really matters at this point.”

As for what could have him lose, Adam Lambert says he is suspicious of the “Gokey factor” – the migration of church leader Danny Gokey’s votes to the more conservative Kris Allen – than any kind of grassroots effort or “power texting” stuff. As to whether his sexual orientation impacted the final vote, Adam Lambert laughed and answered, “Probably.” He said that he knew losing was a possibility and “that Kris had just as much of a chance as I did … and the people that had been voting for more of the conservative choices up until then were probably going to default more to Kris than to me.”
