Today is “National Coming Out Day,” which according to the Human Rights Campaign, marks the anniversary of October 11, 1987, in which half a million people participated in a March in Washington DC for Lesbian and Gay Rights. They state that:

“It was the second such demonstration in our nation’s capital and resulted in the founding of a number of LGBT organizations, including the National Latino/a Gay & Lesbian Organization (LLEGÓ) and AT&T’s LGBT employee group, LEAGUE. The momentum continued four months after this extraordinary march as more than 100 lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender activists from around the country gathered in Manassas, Va., about 25 miles outside Washington, D.C. Recognizing that the LGBT community often reacted defensively to anti-gay actions, they came up with the idea of a national day to celebrate coming out and chose the anniversary of that second march on Washington to mark it.”

Another celebrity celebrating today is Ke$ha, one of Adam’s friends. Ke$ha joined forces with the Human Rights Campaign and created a special t-shirt for the occasion. The proceeds will go towards the HRC’s work to achieve equality for the LGBT community.

Friend Factor, who Adam re-tweeted, is an organization in which friends to come together to stand up for their gay friends’ rights. Earlier this year, Adam informed his fans about the organization via Twitter. His tweet had such a huge effect, Adam’s fans even crashed a Friend Factor event ticketing website. I truly admire Lambert’s courage in speaking out. Coming out and revealing our true personalities is our key to our own freedom and practice our human rights. Just like Adam, we have to stand up in what we believe in.

STORY: RCA Execs Confirm Jive and Arista Labels Shut Down

Lambert’s second studio album has been among the most anticipated releases of 2012, thanks in large part to the success of his debut, For Your Entertainment, which is thisclose to being certified platinum for sales in excess of one million units. But the follow-up has seen a few delays: first, whenLambert switched management in the middle of the recording cycle, and again, by his own admission, because of his “perfectionist” nature.

“Here’s the deal: there have been a couple of creative set backs on the first single,” he tweeted on Sunday. “Mainly cuz I’m a perfectionist. Ha. Seems as though the single will explode in November. I’m sorry for the delay- but trust me, it’s worth it.” He also wrote, “as of now, album will be released in the spring. Feb/march?”

RCA Records COO Tom Corson echoed that sentiment, telling The Hollywood Reporter, “We moved the album back because the creative process is still unfolding.” The executive notes that it’s “not because we’re not excited about what we’ve got, we just think we can top it, but we’re right there on the cusp.”

For his part, Lambert has been tweeting semi-regular updates on his Twitter feed and even revealing snippets of lyrics, such as: “Lost inside communication breakdown / Better just read my lips / Comin’ in clearer when we get down / Iceberg / Just the tip” and “All along, I tried to pretend it didn’t matter if I was alone.”

It’s been noted that Lambert is “taking the reins” on this album much more so than on his debut, and Corson concurred: “Adam is definitely more involved than ever and I think he’s really enjoying that. Those first records when you come off of Idol, the timelines are really tight, so it’s an artificial experience. Now he has room to breathe and time, he doesn’t have to come off TV, onto a tour and then have an album out for Christmas.”

On the other hand, RCA CEO Peter Edge opined that American Idol was the perfect platform for an artist like Lambert. “Adam is a great example [of how] when you’re right for that kind of format, it’s a fast way to get attention,” he told THR. “I don’t know that Adam Lambert would have found it easy to get a record deal, but from the show, you saw how unique he was, what a great voice and great performer he was. That would have been very hard to do through conventional ways.”

So when will his as-yet-to-be-titled full-length possibly see a release date? “February, March — somewhere in there,” says Corson. “Definitely first quarter.”

I’m sure the wait for Adam’s new album is definitely worth it. Knowing his artistry and passion for music,  this guy has a long way to go. I don’t know if it’s just me, but Lambert reminds me of Freddie Mercury.

US Weekly: Can you describe the material on your upcoming album?

Adam Lambert: This album is different in that is has a more serious tone. There is definitely fun, upbeat music on there too. This album has a thread of honesty in that it is real and personal. On this album I let people in further. It is an autobiographical album that portrays my dreams and aspirations. There are also some songs that deal with heartache and love. Whereas my old album was fun, campy, and over the top, this album is more contemporary and honest. The last album was more of a fantasy and this album is a search for my identity.

If asked about his future plans.

US Weekly: Any upcoming plans?

Adam Lambert: I will be in New York recording the album. Lately I have had more involvement with different sociopolitical campaigns like The Trevor Project and Do Something. There is a quote in the VH1 Behind the Scenes special where I say, “I feel like I am an entertainer, not a politician.” Beforehand I was leery about commenting on certain things but I am now more comfortable voicing my opinion on issues like marriage equality.

Then the collaboration was finally revealed when Adam tweeted “@BCJean and I wrote #outlawsoflove w Rune Westberg. Glad you all like it. @BCJean and I wrote #outlawsoflove w Rune Westberg. Glad you all like it.”

Getting a better project for LGBT young people to show them that, despite the bullying at a young age, it would be better for them in the future. From the best of good design is a project of Trevor, to provide resources at the end of LGBT youth suicide.

Adam has recently supported the project by donating some of Trevor is a special edition of one of their songs. He has published “Billboard Remix” Aftermath, a song he wrote his first album, Adam explained that the song is like the best place in the record of interview, Kish MA.:

“This song really speaks to that same issue – the It Gets Better thing – having that faith in yourself and the pride to just be who you are.”
