Adam Lambert: ‘Holiday arrest was a wake-up call’

Rocker Adam Lambert has addressed his holiday bust-up with boyfriend Sauli Koskinen for the first time on TV, insisting their behavior was “childish.”

The singer and his partner were arrested in Helsinki on December 22 following a fight at a club.

The couple was questioned by police and released hours later.

Lambert has since laughed off the incident via a series of Twitter.com posts, and on Thursday, he opened up further about the incident during an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres’ daytime program.

With his Finnish boyfriend in the audience, Lambert said, “Relationships are work and I’m so lucky to fall in love with a great partner. Everybody has their ups and down, things happen (and) when you add alcohol to a situation, things can get out of control.

“We had too much to drink, we screwed up. There was no injuries, no violence; it was more just childish, foolish messiness.”

The incident prompted Lambert to take stock of his life and be a little more mature.

He adds, “I was a little irresponsible and I think what I learned from the experience was that I owe it to myself, to my loved ones and to my fans to be a little more adult and pull it together.

“My New Year’s resolution was like, ‘OK, we’re cleaning up the act’ … think the universe always sends you wake-up calls.”

Adam Lambert Promotes New Music in San Francisco

Adam Lambert is in full promotion mode now that he has a new single out and an album releasing in March. Today he was in San Francisco, and stopped by the 99.7 NOW studio to chat with DJs Fernando and Greg. Interestingly, when they played his new single “Better Than I Know Myself,” Adam commented that it was the first time he has heard it on the radio. That’s probably because he’s been very busy, such as appearing on The Tonight Show and The Ellen DeGeneres Show this week, as well as finishing up work on the album. It sounds as though there is still a bit more work to be done, because Adam said the album is about 85% complete.

Right now, other big news in San Francisco is the 49ers, since they are headed to the NFC championship game Sunday for a shot at the Super Bowl. Fernando and Greg brought it up saying, “Everybody in San Francisco right now is going 49er crazy.” Of course, anyone that knows about Adam Lambert is aware that sports are not really “his thing.” He joked, “Oh yeah, you know me, I’m a big sports fan.” He further commented, “The Super Bowl takes place right around the same time as my birthday, so I was always a little resentful” but laughed, “we had good food, good party food around my birthday.”

Adam Lambert ‘Raves’ about Madonna’s ‘M.D.N.A.’ Album Title

Adam Lambert took to Twitter today to comment about the title Madonna recently announced for her upcoming album. He really liked the title and shared his opinion with his more than 1.3 million followers. Adam tweeted, “Madonna’s new album is called ‘M.D.N.A.’ hahah Genius!!!!” What exactly does he think is genius about the title? In addition to being an abbreviation of her name, many think the title has a double meaning, related to the drug Ecstasy. Ecstasy is known scientifically as methylenedioxymethamphetamine, or “MDMA.” Obviously, Madonna’s album title varies a little, using an “N” instead of an “M,” but it still seems like a play on the drug name.

Apparently many of Adam’s fans did not get it, because he followed up with another tweet, “Oye. So many replies that don’t get the title. Hello…. Ever been to a rave? Or know what those are??” For those unaware, a “rave” is a party featuring electronic music, often involving Ecstasy and other drug use. Adam is not the only one that made the association between the album title and the drug. Although, unlike Adam, some don’t see it as such great idea. The UK’s MNE reports that, “Lucy Dawe, a spokesperson for the campaign group Cannabis Skunk Sense, told The Sun that Madonna’s choice of album title was ‘an ill advised decision’.”

Adam Lambert has said that when he was younger, he was a “club kid,” so he has probably had his fair share of rave experiences. Adam Lambert Explains Meaning of ‘OOFTA’ Tattoo

Adam Lambert has a new tattoo and many people have tried to decipher its meaning for a while. He teased fans last week when he tweeted “#OOFTA! ” but did not respond when people asked him what he meant. Since then, the tattoo has been spotted on his hand and his boyfriend Sauli Koskinen has a matching tattoo on his hand. The meaning behind the tattoo has finally been revealed! Adam is promoting his new single and upcoming album this week and today he explained the word “OOFTA” in an interview with Maxwell from Philly’s Q102:

It’s pretty simple, it’s an inside joke between me and Sauli. There’s no big hidden mystery. I guess the word comes originally from Norwegian. It was kinda turned into bastardized slang in Minnesota and Wisconsin here in the states. It basically means like “oy” or “oh my gosh” or “whoa.” I think the technical definition in Wikipedia was “I am overwhelmed.”

“OOFTA” is Adam Lambert’s fourth tattoo, with the others including an Eye of Horus image, an infinity sign and a skeleton key based on a painting by Hans Haveron. Adam’s first two tattoos were popular with fans, and Pennyroyal Studio created pendants of the designs as part of their charity Signature Collection. The third tattoo, the skeleton key, has also just been made into a pendant by another company called Skins and Stones.

Adam Lambert Gives Impromptu Music Lesson on Twitter

Adam Lambert had some time to kill at the airport on Friday, so he took the opportunity to teach fans some facts about music. Although it is unclear what prompted him to bring up the topic, he started the education lesson off when he tweeted, “a lil music education moment: FALSETTO. It’s not full, belted out chest voice. It’s small, light pretty head voice. Widely misunderstood. ” He then followed with “…not to b rude – but it’s so often used to describe my voice but I hardly ever use my falsetto. Jus’ sayin’” This prompted fans to ask him questions about other music terms such as “Vibratto,” “bridge” and “hook.” In addition to explaining the various terms, Adam also gave examples of his falsetto: “on the last album i used falsetto in Broken Open, A Loaded Smile and the “eyes baby eyes” part of Music Again” and examples of falsetto used by other artists.

At about the time of Adam’s Twitter party, he was spotted at the San Francisco airport. He is leaving after an action-packed day of radio promotion for his upcoming album and new single. It is always fun for Adam’s fans when he takes the time to answer Twitter questions and his tweets today about music terms were very informative. Who wouldn’t want Adam Lambert to be their music teacher?

Adam Lambert Gives Glamberts Special Message Backstage

Adam Lambert gave Glamberts a special video message backstage during this week’s Jay Leno telecast. Adam Lambert recorded the special video message with a news interviewer following his performance on the NBC program.

Adam explained to news his vision behind the single “Better Than I Know Myself”. “My first single off album number two…. I think that anybody that is in any kind of relationship can relate to that feeling of being able to tell your lover, ‘You know what, I might have messed up. I’m really sorry if I don’t make it clear how much I need you, how much I love you.’ “

Lambert said that his song embodies that. “And this song is like that, it’s very romantic yet very dramatic reassurance.”

Adam was asked if the wait for the album’s release has been difficult on him and his fans. He told news “I have been ready for months. ” He added “We have to go through all the politics, the final details to get it right. But I think we are going to be really, really excited about this album.”

But at the end, Adam was asked if he had a special message for fans. “Fans were lining up early today. You were tweeting them in line. What do you have to say to them?”

He responded “I love the Glamberts. Thank you so much. Thank you for spending time outside, waiting. Luckily it was a nice day. ” He added “And I saw you guys and felt you in the room. It was a great live performance with my fans.”

Adam Lambert’s First Live Performance of New Single on ‘The Tonight Show’

On Tuesday, Adam Lambert performed his new single Better Than I Know Myself for the first time live on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Adam looked stylish, dressed in a classic black suit and white shirt, which is seen in photos posted by NBC Universal. With “chapter 2″ of Adam’s career, the glitter and feathers are gone and now Adam is looking more chic than ever!

Adam got a very warm welcome on The Tonight Show, as a huge part of the studio audience was his fans. When the performance was first announced, fans rushed online to request tickets to be in the audience. Many came from across the county, and there was a long line of Glamberts early this morning, vying for a good seat at the 4:00pm taping. Adam did not disappoint with his performance! After the taping Adam tweeted to Jay, “@jayleno thanks for a great day Jay! Good to see you as always!” He followed that up with tweets about “chapter 2″ in his career. First, he complimented his band, which includes new members Ashley Dzerigian and music director Kevin Hastings: “I love my band!! Chapter 2 begins!!! @TommyJoeRatliff @ashleydzerigian @IsaacTheCarp and introducing @Kevmokeys!!” He then gave a shout out to his fans, including a gorgeous new photo of himself when he tweeted, “I’m so excited for this new chapter to begin! Adam Lambert’s New Music Director Revealed!

With the recent release of his new single and a new album on the way, Adam Lambert will be very busy over the coming months. Fortunately, he has help, and it has just been revealed who will be working as his new music director. With Adam’s Glam Nation music director no longer part of the band, many people had wondered who would be the replacement. The cat was let out of the bag by a tweet from musician Kevin Hastings on Monday. He tweeeted, “I am stoked to announce I am now music director for Adam Lambert! Watch us play tomorrow night on the Tonight Show w/ Jay Leno!!” He also gave more information about his role: “I will be playing keyboards and singing.”

It looks as though Adam made a great choice with Kevin, as he has an impressive music background. He and his brother are a “synth-rock” band called Vanity Machine. According to their Facebook page, Kevin has worked as a professional background keyboard player for years in the industry. He has played for top artists, such as Rihanna, Eminem, Jay-Z, Lady Gaga, Fall Out Boy, Chris Brown,Travis Barker, Kanye West, Justin Timberlake, Ne-Yo, Liz Phair, and Cheyenne Kimball.

Last month Adam introduced the rest of his band via Twitter, and the January 17 performance on The Tonight Show will be the first time we will see new line-up perform together. Adam Lambert Mentoring in Majors & Minors

This week, Adam Lambert will be mentoring Majors & Minors. He will be the guest mentor. This show will be having 12 young performers singing in front of vocal coaches, star performers, and musicians. These kids will be performing a concert to be judged and the lucky one to win will be given a contract. Sounds like American Idol, or just any other talent shows – well, they are mostly all about singing. Here are a couple of videos where Adam Lambert is coaching the kids, he’s really good at them. Adam Lambert Supports Gay Rights on ‘National Coming Out Day’

Today is “National Coming Out Day” and Adam Lambert has shown celebrity support by tweeting about gay rights this morning. He tweeted a message originally posted by the organization Friend Factor, saying “Wait…What?! My gay friends & I can be fired in 29 states #Just4BeingGay? Learn more: http://www.Friendfactor.org/WW #ncod plz RT.” By asking his more than 1.2 million followers to re-tweet it, Adam obviously has a huge reach with this message. In addition, he followed that tweet with, “This is one of the many reasons kids are being bullied: parents r setting examples of discrimination and inequality. Starts w the grown ups.”

Today is “National Coming Out Day,” which according to the Human Rights Campaign, marks the anniversary of October 11, 1987, in which half a million people participated in a March in Washington DC for Lesbian and Gay Rights. They state that:

“It was the second such demonstration in our nation’s capital and resulted in the founding of a number of LGBT organizations, including the National Latino/a Gay & Lesbian Organization (LLEGÓ) and AT&T’s LGBT employee group, LEAGUE. The momentum continued four months after this extraordinary march as more than 100 lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender activists from around the country gathered in Manassas, Va., about 25 miles outside Washington, D.C. Recognizing that the LGBT community often reacted defensively to anti-gay actions, they came up with the idea of a national day to celebrate coming out and chose the anniversary of that second march on Washington to mark it.”

Another celebrity celebrating today is Ke$ha, one of Adam’s friends. Ke$ha joined forces with the Human Rights Campaign and created a special t-shirt for the occasion. The proceeds will go towards the HRC’s work to achieve equality for the LGBT community.

Friend Factor, who Adam re-tweeted, is an organization in which friends to come together to stand up for their gay friends’ rights. Earlier this year, Adam informed his fans about the organization via Twitter. His tweet had such a huge effect, Adam’s fans even crashed a Friend Factor event ticketing website.
